Notifications
Underwriting Management uses notifications to keep you updated on events that affect your submissions. The numbering on the icon indicates unread notifications. Notifications are sorted by date, with the most recent notification first. When you click to view new notifications, the numbering is removed from the icon.
All notifications are global, meaning they are not filtered by submission. If a notification is actionable, you can click the submission name to open the related item within the affected submission.
There are two types of notifications: chat and general.
Chat notifications
The "chat notifications list" only shows the most recent message for each of your submissions. The "chat window" available when you are viewing a submission includes the complete history of chat messages for that submission. For more information on chat, refer to Collaboration tools: Chat.

Marking Notifications as Read or Unread
In both the Chat and General notifications areas, you can mark notifications as read or unread. When you view notifications, Underwriting Management clears the Chat or Bell badge for the notification to indicate that the notifications have been viewed, but it leaves them marked unread.
Both Notifications areas include two tabs:
-
All, where you can view all read and unread notifications
-
Unread, where you can view your unread notifications
You can mark notifications as read or unread as follows:
-
To mark individual read notifications as unread as read, selecting the check box (with tooltip of Mark as Read) that appears on the notification tile when you move the cursor over the tile. If you select the Mark as Read check box for an unread notification while you are in the Unread view, the notification is removed from the view.
-
To mark read submissions as unread, select the check box (with tooltip of Mark as Unread).
-
To mark all notifications as read, click Mark All as Read at the top of the Notifications window.
Note: If you click a submission link in a notification, Underwriting Management automatically marks the submission as read.
- New notifications since the last time you clicked the Bell icon display with a white background and the text New.
- Notifications that are not new since the last time you clicked the Bell icon but that the user has not marked as read display with a white background.
- Notifications that you have marked as read display with a gray background.
