Search filter criteria

The following table describes the search criteria that are available from the Underwriting Management and UM Agent Home pages when a user clicks the Search icon next to the title of the Submissions, Tasks, or Recent Activity panels.

From the Additional Criteria list in a panel's advanced search area, you can select any filter criteria that are available to display for that panel (as described in the following table). When you select criteria from the Additional Criteria list, the filters for those criteria appear in the advanced search area until you remove them; you can remove any filter from the panel's advanced search area (and make it available from the Additional Criteria list again instead), by clicking the X at the right of the filter.

Insured

Text field that searches for the name or alias of the insured. (This field no longer supports searching for submission or policy number. Use the Submission / Policy number filter to search by submission or policy number.)

  • Underwriting Management searches for submissions whose name or alias includes a word that starts with the text that a user enters in this field.
  • When you search for multiple search terms, Underwriting Management returns only results that match all of the search terms.
  • The search is not case-sensitive. Entering J in the search field returns results starting with both J and j.
  • Special characters (other than the underscore) are ignored by the search and return no search results. The underscore character is treated as part of a word, not as a special character.
  • A quoted string (a string within double quotation marks) matches only if it is an exact match on an entire word (or entire consecutive words in order) within the insured name.

Examples

Search strings:

  • Smith
    • matches Smithtown Best Pizza and Best Smithtown Pizza and B&P Smith.
    • does not match Blacksmith Apartments because no word in the insured name matches (starts with) Smith.
  • “Smith”
    • matches B&P Smith.
    • does not match Smithtown Best Pizza or Best Smithtown Pizza because the quoted word in the search string does not match a word (or consecutive words) in those insured names exactly.
  • Smith Best
    • matches Smithtown Best Pizza and Best Smithtown Pizza.
    • does not match B&P Smith because not all words in the search string match a word in the insured name.
  • “Best Pizza”
    • matches Smithtown Best Pizza.
    • does not match Best Smithtown Pizza because the quoted phrase in the search string does not match the words in the insured name in the exact order.
  • B P or P B
    • matches Smithtown Best Pizza and Best Smithtown Pizza and B&P Smith.
  • “B P”
    • matches B&P Smith.
  • "P B"
    • does not match any of the example insured names because P and B do not occur in that order in any of the insured names.
